Memisa is known for the support we give to health structures and medical personnel. In India, our approach is completely different. As always, we base our engagements on the strengths of a country or population, focusing in India’s case on civil society, especially women’s movements. Together with our local partner West Bengal Voluntary Health Association (WBVHA), we support a network of more than 40 local NGOs, grouped into 5 platforms in 5 districts. Through Community Health Funds, families are helped to cover the additional costs of health care, such as transport and loss of income due to sickness.
